In "Probability formula" we will discuss about probability formula sheet related to probability and statistics and probability distribution is called the probability density function.
Probability Formula
Main probability formula of any event is
P(A) = no. of favourable outcomes is divided by the total sample space.
P(A) = n(A)/n(S).
Here a probability formula sheet is given in the following.
Probability And Statistics Formula
1) Probability Range = 0 ≤ P(A) ≤ 1
2) Not-mutually exclusive events = P(A∪B) = P(A) + P(B) – P(A∩B)
3) Rule of Complementary Events = P(A’) + P(A) = 1
4) Disjoint events = P(A∩B) = 0
5) Independent events = P(A∩B) = P(A) ⋅ P(B)
6) Conditional probability = P(A|B)=P(A∩B)/P(B)
7) Bayes formula = P(A | B) = P(B | A)⋅P(A)/P(B)
Formula for probability distribution which is called probability density function
1) Binomial probability distribution
The Binomial Probability distribution of exactly x successes from n number of trials is given by the below formula-
P (X) = nCx px qn – x
Where,
n = Total number of trials
x = Total number of successful trials
p = probability of success in a single trial
q = probability of failure in a single trial =1-p
2) Hypergeometric probability distribution
formula is also used for finding mean and variance.
Where,
N: The number of items in the population.
n: The number of items in the sample.
x: The number of items in the sample that are classified as successes.
P(x| N, n, k): hypergeometric probability – the probability that an n-trial hypergeometric experiment results in exactly x successes, when the population consists of
N items, and K of which are classified as successes.
